------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-05-09 04:44 ------- One more thing I forgot to address: "Emacs*foreground" will not work as there is still an entry of "emacs*foreground" in the rdb (use xrdb -query to see the rdb). Emacs will first search for the primary "emacs" entry (which is "emacs"), if there is none, it will look at "Emacs". You can override the primary widget name with "emacs -name <name>". It gets ever more wierd in xterm. xterm's primary is "Terminal" and it's secondary is "XTerm". The X guys (www.X.org) dropped support for "xterm" leaving many people confused when everything fell apart.... (The idea was that it was to confusing for both Terminal, XTerm, and xterm to be correct.) -Bryan -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: REOPENED creation_date: description: When called as 'emacs', /etc/X11/app-defaults/Emacs overrides values written in $HOME/.Xdefaults. I think values in $HOME should override the defaults. Workarounds: - call emacs as 'emacs-21.3' - call emacs with a different name argument like 'emacs -name "GNU Emacs"'
