Reboot, removing Network Server and continue > to load then freezes again. Tehn I remove (don't pick) workstation, try > again and it freezes. In other words. I can't get past the kernel install I have recentlty found strange defaults in computers due to harware failures. Your problem looks like a default in the RAM. The check-up made by the bios proves only that the ram is adressable and is in the slot. Use memtest86 : - urpmi memtest86 - reboot and lilo shows memtest86 - Wait for a complete cycle of tests (~15min ?) If the memory fails, you can see screens like this: http://pjarillon.free.fr/docs/memory-fail.jpg (my oldest computer) http://pjarillon.free.fr/docs/memtest-pey.jpg (computer of a friend) In case of bad ram : http://rick.vanrein.org/linux/badram/ allows to don't use the defectives addresses. Don't forget that a RAM of 256M has about 3 000 000 000 transistors. A failure of one of them is enough to have great troubles. A disk failure can occur, too. Don't forget to check it. I am not sure that your problem is a hardware problem, but the probability is not null. I am sure that some bug reports in bugzilla are generated by hardware failures. Beware with hardware failures -- Pierre Jarillon - http://pjarillon.free.fr/ Vice-prsident de l'ABUL : http://abul.org/
