mcc could use modem_run from user space drivers with

this way we wouldn't need speedmgmt from
www.speedtouch.com
BTW, about firmware... there is no opensource replacement of speedtouch' firmware, AFAIK.

I was wondering if anyone who has the ability
(because I certainly don't) to package RPMs could package up thehttp://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/download/index.html
speedtouch drivers for the kernel (insted of user space)
The main thing you would need is either the bundle
from
or possibly just the kernel module (if the other parts are already inhttp://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/speedtouch/speedtouch-1.2-beta2.tar.bz2
mandrake).
Or the offical (and GPL'd) version from www.speedtouch.com
Then drake could (which I think it now does) ask for
the firmware or alternativly use the
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
one. So the speedtouch modems will work out the box
without any firmware required.
Just an idea though
Mike
