It is:

But, the postinstall script of mandrake_theme does some mods to the file:
perl -pi -e 's/^\s*SPLASH=.*/SPLASH=auto/;
s/^\s*THEME=.*/THEME=Mandrake/' %_sysconfdir/sysconfig/bootsplash
So, maybe your bug is in mandrake_theme?
