------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-08-09 15:05 -------
I replied on cooker, 13 August. The reason you didn't get it may be the same
as why some (myself included) don't get Bugzilla messages: the cooker mail
server sometimes just doesn't send messages out to everyone.
This is the from line from this very bug report:
From: "[udo]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Per my message below, I don't see what isn't compliant. I'm not Warly, I can't
change the server config. But I *can* see that the header is compliant.
Perhaps something on your end is stripping out the quotes.
My original message:

This is a late reply, but then it seemed important to you.
The field that Bugzilla sends is valid according to the RFC. The bracketed
name has been surrounded by quotes, which marks it as a "quoted-string"
syntax rule. This datatype can contain 'any CHAR excepting <">, "\" & CR,
and including linear-white-space' (quoting the RFC). Ergo, brackets are
valid within this context.
You may need to check your ruleset for compliance. Hope this helps.

Also posted this on cooker a couple of weeks before, but no reponse, so I'm
filing an official bug report:
I've installed a pretty strict antispam ruleset for our exim4 MTA which
among other things expects real RFC822 compliance.
The mails from bugzilla at qa.mandrakesoft.com fail here:
-----CUT-----
2003-09-08 10:46:54 19wHfh-0006OU-VS H=ezoffice.mandrakesoft.com
(qa.mandrakesoft.com) [212.11.15.34] F=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> rejected after
DATA: missing or malformed local part (expected word or "<"): failing address in
"From" header is: [somebody] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
-----CUT-----
Easy to workaround on our side, but it might be a good idea to make the
mails RFC822 compatible as other MTA might reject those mails as well.
This is probably one of the reasons why some people whine about not getting
mails from bugzilla.
