------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-11-09 06:41 -------
indeed kernel space driver also works :)
to use it you can:
urpmi pppoatm
create/change a little the file /etc/ppp/peers/adsl so that it contains:
lock
defaultroute
noipdefault
noauth
holdoff 4
maxfail 25
persist
asyncmap 0
lcp-echo-interval 2
lcp-echo-failure 7
usepeerdns
user "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" # adapt to your needs

plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.1/pppoatm.so
VPI.VCI # adapt to your needs (for me 8.35)

if not yet done, copy the firmware to /usr/share/speedtouch/mgmt.o
if you already configured speedtouch for use with the user-space driver, don't
forget to :
* comment in /etc/modules.conf : #alias speedtch off
* chkconfig internet off (prevents speedtouch.sh to be launched)

shut the connection if needed (service internet stop)
then to connect:
/usr/sbin/modem_run -k -f /usr/share/speedtouch/mgmt.o
(wait a few seconds...)
pppd call adsl

I hope it can help speedtouch users to test this alternative.
Maybe this driver will be used in the future by default if there is positive
feeedback ?
