hi,
think that we are talking about a speedtouch usb misconfiguration. Like the
others, the speedtouch usb works well with Mandrake 9.1  if i copy the firmware
in "/usr/share/speedtouch".

With current cooker, modem_run fails to establish the line [talking about
another instance of modem_run already accessing the modem] until i add "alias
speedtch off" in "/etc/modules.conf" as suggested above. 

Here some quick dummy test i've made: 

1/Mandrake 9.2 RC2 with kernel-2.4.21.0.13mdk-1-1mdk [the one ship with Mandrake
9.1] : the internet connection works [without adding any "alias speedtch off"
line in /etc/modules.conf]

2/Mandrake 9.2 RC2 with kernel-2.4.22.6mdk-1-1mdk: modem_run fails to establish
the line until i put the "alias speedtch off" line to /etc/modules.conf.
