I understood that this trouble is probably due to the module snd-usb-audio.o.gz located in /lib/modules/<kernel version>/kernel/sound/usb/. So you can put the name of that module in /etc/hotplug/blacklist to avoid its loading or remame the file snd-usb-audio.o.gz (you'll have a error module not found but that better than rebooting hummm ?)
