Didn't I read their RAID drivers anyway are sort of like NVidia's drivers -- available but proprietary? If that's accurate (and it may not be if I'm recalling inaccurately or my source was incorrect), they'll likely be doing the same thing with Serial ATA drivers.. I made that mistake once with an NVidia video card, b4 I switched to Linux, as I was thinking about doing so and knew enough to ensure Linux drivers were available for any hardware I purchased, but unfortunately didn't realize there WAS such a thing as closed source hardware drivers, at the time. That's one mistake I hope to avoid, next time, and certainly don't want to expand to any other components! (I happen to be interested in the this thread as well, tho I will probably wait a bit for my upgrade, and hope to do a Socket 940 dual Opteron/Athlon-64 when I upgrade, as well as serial ATA, and I still have to look into PCI-Express which I've just seen hints of but don't know what it's all about yet.. if I can hold off on the upgrade long enough to get what I really want.) -- Duncan - List replies preferred.
