description:
I have a Intel D845PEBT2 motherboard with built in sound chip, and also
and external sound card Soundblaster Live. The reason I use two cards is that
Mandrake 9.1 wasn't able to recognize the built-in chip (9.2 does, but fails to
play sound on it). Now, harddrake does show me two installed sound cards, and I
was able to use the buttons to configure the Soundblaster to play sound during a
session, but after a reboot, everything went back to mute, and all over again.
The trick that made it work (it seems) is to use emu10k driver rather than
snd-emu10k which pops in as a default. I even modified my modules.conf by hand
to na avail.
I know the card works as I dual boot to SuSE 8.2, and YAST2 allows me to select
the Soundblaster card only, and ignore the built-in one.
Let me know if you need additional info.
