Hum, according to man cdrecord, it treats dao and sao the same.
In k3b I selected DAO, but there's no way to really select multi-session or
fixation. It did fixate though by default. This is the commandline it used:
/usr/bin/cdrecord -v gracetime=2 dev=0,0,1 speed=1 -dao -dummy
driveropts=burnfree -eject fs=8m -overburn -useinfo -audio
/tmp/kde-marcel/k3b_audio_0_01.inf 
That's what you mean?
