Maybe your settings are broken. You should remove the configuration
files from ~/.gnome2 (can't remember the names, but must be something
with 'totem' in the name) and let regenerate them.

9.2rc2: totem just segfaults when playing mp3s - the file plays and the nice
visualisation is floating around, but I only can close totem by using xkill then...

I would be happy if you could make XINE the default media player. Or XINE for
video and XMMS for audio. And mplayer and videolan would be nice optional players...
