------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-18-09 22:25 ------- I've not tried again with k3b, nevertheless now with Mandrake 9.2rc2 I've in /var/log/messages only the following lines when inserting a data cd : Sep 18 22:13:57 BenAthlux kernel: sr0: mmc-3 profile: Ah Sep 18 22:14:00 BenAthlux kernel: UDF-fs: No VRS found no more error and a ls -l /mnt/cdrom2 provide a listing... k3b should work now, I'll test when I've got time. now /etc/fstab contains : none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hdb,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount dev=/dev/scd0,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: On Mandrake 9.2rc1, launching k3b gives the following warning : No support for ATAPI with cdrdao You will not be able to use all your reading devices as copy sources since there is at least one not configured to use SCSI emulation and your system does not support ATAPI with cdrdao. Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI emulation) for all writer devices. This way you won't have any problems. I've tried to reproduce it and it appears even though I had this message as well for my cdrw (which does not appear any more...) Could not mount device. The reported error was: MITSUMI CR-48X9TE This is annoying as, for a multisession CDR, I cannot read the previous session. I have to put it in my DVD to verify that all went well. even though in lilo.conf there is (for MdK92rc1) append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=off resume=/dev/hda7 splash=silent" With my /etc/fstab : /dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hdb,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount dev=/dev/scd0,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 /dev/hda10 /mnt/data_linux_hda10 ext2 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda9 /mnt/data_linux_hda9 ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda8 /mnt/linux_Mdk91 ext3 defaults 1 1 /dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c vfat codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-15,umask=0 0 0 #/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c vfat codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 #/dev/hda5 /mnt/win_d ntfs iocharset=iso8859-15,ro,umask=0 0 0 /dev/hda6 /mnt/win_e ntfs ro,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda7 swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd /cdwriter auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/cd /cdrom auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 (maybe those two last lines explain why the second message does not appear any more... they may not have been taken into account immediately, though rebooting is not the way I expect Linux to make me work, reminds me too much of another partition I now use for storage...). oups I've just realized I launched it as a normal user and it worked this time, my previous bug does not count... well, what's the point of rebooting with Linux ? To conclude for this bug, could the install of mandrake apply from the start the suggested solution ? "Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI emulation) for all writer devices. ". I think the noobie (like me BTW) won't know what to do with this message.
