------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-20-09 00:36 ------- I can confirm that the Radeon 9800 (R350 chipset) supports the VESA driver. I'm using the VESA driver with Mandrake 9.1 as I type this. It's good enough for 1280x1024 resolution; you just don't get 3D acceleration or DPMS control. And before you insult ATI's openness (or lack thereof), you should probably take a look at the commits that have been going into the XFree86 CVS tree over the last couple of months. Radeon 9800 support is in the process of being added (or has been added: check changelog note 267 in http://cvsweb.xfree86.org/cvsweb/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/ati/atichip.c If XFree86 would release developmental binary builds, I would even be willing to test it out. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: The installation config tool offers "radeon" and "radeon 8500" options, both of these fail to test (error message only) and fail start the X server later on.
