Well, Thanks for the great tip. Now all my hardware works including usb
mouse, (2) network cards, a usb dvd writer and a scanner .

There is still a problem though. if I run harddrake from the control
center or on
startup the computer locks up.

I have an AMD 2.1Ghz and VIA VT8367 Controller.
Let me know if there is more info you need. A novice
would never get passed the hardrake scan on startup.
I had to remove it from rc3.d & rc5.d to get running.

Gary G.

P.S. What is noapic anyways?

I have two networkcards. On 9.1 they configure properly with the wizard. One
uses the tulip module and the other uses the netsumi module. Both are detected
but neither works. My system insists on searching for 127.000.000.001 as a DHCP.
I'm sure this can be straigtened out with the command line, but then I don't
need drak. This a clean Install /dev/hda7
