Apparently Dell deviates from the standard OEM spec for Sound Blaster Live! 5.1. The EMU10K1 drivers just don't work on it (yet). The problem has been around since the Spring, and no one from Dell seems to care (though it's acknowledged on their support page). There are commercial EMU10K1X drivers available from a third party, but they cost $35 and the demo only works for 3 hours. Mandrake detects the card as EMU10K1X, so I was hoping they had drivers for it, but apparently it's just detection. They don't have the drivers or any equivalent. If there is an open source equivalent someone can point me to, I'd be really happy. Otherwise, I'm just going to try to swap the card with my old SB Live card and that should hopefully work. Thanks everybody for all the help.
