------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-22-09 22:52 -------

With 22sep03 cooker updates
  console-tools-0.2.3-46mdk.i586
  libconsole0-0.2.3-46mdk.i586
  ldetect-lst-0.1.8-10mdk.i586
  initscripts-7.06-29mdk.i586
  (also mandrake_doc-common-9.2-0.9mdk.noarch,
but drakfirsttime-0.92-3mdk.noarch refuses to be found)

and replacing rc.sysinit with rc.sysint.rpmnew (initscripts)
I observe the following:

o with either iso15.acm or iso15.acm.gz present in
     /etc/sysconfig/console/consoletrans, but not both,
     startup reports
Sep 22 13:12:24 play setsysfont: findacm: No such file or directory
       Sep 22 13:12:24 play rc.sysinit: Setting default font (lat0-16):
          succeeded

o with BOTH iso15.acm and iso15.acm.gz present, startup reports
       Sep 22 13:18:22 play setsysfont: /sbin/setsysfont: line 34:
         [: /etc/sysconfig/console/consoletrans/iso15.acm:
            binary operator expected
       Sep 22 13:18:22 play rc.sysinit: Setting default font (lat0-16):
          succeeded

Granted, I'm using US English and don't see any font problems, and I've been
modifying scripts and directory contents to exercise this, and I'm updating,
not doing a new installation, so I'm not sure what a pristine installation
is supposed to produce for these files and directories. From where I'm
sitting, it looks like either contents of /etc/sysconfig/console/consoletrans
must be managed better, or /sbin/setsysfont needs to be smarter about
what it expects to find, or both.
