I'm dutch, so I qualify to give a comment...

The problem with the US_intl. keyboard is the way accented characters are
created by double keystrokes, instead of the alt-gr key, which I don't think
anybody ever uses anyway. This way you only have negative consequenses by
using the international keyb.

So I always choose US plain layout, because I rarely/never use the accented
characters anyway. Dutch language "purists" do however use them regularly.

I think a more valuable bugreport could be made w.r.t. how accented
characters can be created in a variety of environments (perhaps this is just
a matter of good documentation?). Environments I think of are: console,
KDE/Gnome/X, vnc???

Actually some language purists would say that a dutch keyboard layout would
be best for people who choose dutch as language of MDK.

Personally I choose Europe/British English and US keyb.

Cheers

Simon

I installed Mandrake with "Nederlands" (Dutch) as the default language. It then
suggests
a few keyboards, and the default choice annex suggestion is "US International"; this
is
incorrect, our default keyboard is "US".
