I admin two Mandrake boxes running postfix, but it's 7.0.  I've never seen
this problem but I haven't bothered to upgrade to 7.1 on either of those
machines yet (my motto for servers: if it ain't broke, don't *touch* it).
I didn't have this problem with either box, but then I didn't try running
it before heavily editing /etc/postfix/main.cf, changing and rebuilding
several db's, etc.  I don't think it's meant to just work out of the box,
a lot of site specific configuration needs to be done.  But it shouldn't
need a recompile...
