Hello,
I still could not get the latest (as the previous ones also) kernel
(2.2.17-0.11mdk)
to boot on my SCSI system (with Adaptec 2940 controller).

The last messages from the kernel are:

[...]
using fastest function: pII_mmx [...]
scsi : 0 hosts.
scsi : detected total.
md.c: sizeof(mdp_super_t) = 4096
Partition check:
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
autodetecting RAID arrays
loading aic7xxx module
autodetecting RAID arrays
autorun ...
... autorun DONE.
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-8, errno = 2
VFS: Cannot open root device 08:01
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01

As you can see, the aic7xxx module is loaded, but the SCSI device
detection
was run before (and did not detect any scsi hosts...)

So long,
  Juergen
