we currently use this GCC which it is pretty much the same like 7.1,
can you tell me more about what you hide in the backword of 'messed
up' ?

Messed up means the following:

Situation:  doing make install for the aureal vortex audio driver.

I type make install.

It prints out the first command line sent to the compiler and then does
nothing.  Doing Ctrl-C takes me out of the compiler with no child tasks or
something like that.  I have reported this to the list before and at least
one other person has done so also.
