With a previously functioning AWE32 in 7.0 and working at present in M$
I promise I never use the Beast except to verify the sound functions.
Now L-M 7.1/Cooker seems to want to argue alot.
bootup gives error messages on isapnp.conf issues
'harddrake' recognizes card then gives "can't locate module isapnp"
'sndconfig' gives errors no matter what configuration is designated.
yet going into gnome as root (yes I know! :))
sounds are initialized, xmms comes up plays mp3s beautifully!?
DrakConf-0.52-19mdk
isapnptools-1.22-2mdk
harddrake-0.9-4mdk
sndconfig-0.44-12mdk
Various attempts to modprobe, insmod etc didnt work either?
Some attempts have seen this
"Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than
/lib/modules/2.2.16-9mdk/modules.dep"
Mutiple problems with conf.modules and modules.conf usurping each other.
I have rm'd and mv'd more than once.
Do I need a clean install here or what?
The previous smooth integration of the venerable AWE32 in 7.0 release
with almost complete Cooker added on was a joy to behold. Thought I
would never again
have the pleasure of fiddling with these enigmatic errors.
Its good to feel humble again :) and again and again... ad infinitum
