Do you have isapnp as module or inserted in the kernel? If hardrake
recognizes the card then probably the later is valid. However hardrake
script tries always to modprobe isapnp. Not beautiful anyway.

Use only one conf. conf.modules is considered now obsolete. But it seems
that the system tries to run on both if they exist.
Probably it finds some conflict. Try to copy conf.modules content to
modules.conf, verify any duplicates or setup conflicts and delete
conf.modules.
Btw. /etc/modules does not seem to be processed. This situation started
with some of the latest cookers. rc.sysconfig calls rc.modules.
rc.modules goes after /etc/modules and read it. However nothing comes
up. The modules work and they were there for quite some time before this
happened.
