As I have only used X with root I haven't noticed this problem until a
little while ago..
I cannot start an X session as a user. I think this is due to the fact that
I don't have a soundcard configured.
I can start X if I do a echo sawfish >.xinitrc.. but this kinda sucks... and
if I then start an xterm and type gnome-session into that I get /dev/dsp no
such device... the /dev/dsp exists but as I have no sndcrd i guess I am in
deep shit..
I would say that I shouldn't HAVE to have a sndcard in the machine to get it
running.. At least until all sound cards are supported wich isn't the case
right now... I have an ess 1989 wich isn't supported..
