Thanks for the tip: 'echo startkde >~/.xinitrc' made me enter as a user.
I entered a new user as root, and from that one 'startx' went
flawlessly. The initial problems might be introduced from the
installation process.
Thanks to pixel for fixing my LAN, I just added a Coyote router, and it
was nice to see evrything go right.
I tried to launche klyx but it failed, the installation process was
killed by itself, by faults found during the installation. But my
harddrive would not stop ticking after that.
