Hi!
The libxml2 Version is no good..
A first look at the spec file gave me some horror:
%changelog
* Tue Aug 22 2000 Yoann Vandoorselaere <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 2.2.2-1mdk
- updated to libxml version 2.2.2
This is (at the moment) totally wrong! libxml2 is an own package,
the only problem so far is that you can't install both devel
packages of libxml and libxml2. One package needed to have libxml
(Probably the old GConf 0.7 or maybe dia). This is no error, but
wanted as the API for libxml has changed.
Also I get the following error when installing the libxml2 packages:
Installing libxml2 from group Development/Libraries
Fehler: fehlgeschlagene Paket-Abhngigkeiten:
libxml = 2.2.2 wird von libxml2-devel-2.2.2-1mdk gebraucht
mv: ./libxml2-*: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
This has to be of course libxml2 = 2.2.2 ... ;-)
So be careful out there with libxml. I have a huge list of packages
requiring libxml at the moment. To check out just type:
rpm -q --whatrequires libxml.so.1
(similar for those packages requiring libxml.so.2).
If all these packages build against libxml2-devel, libxml-devel is
obsolete but not before.
Best regards,
Reinhard Katzmann
