| So, you don't use netscape but you use something else? There are some
| alternatives out there I must say... May I ask what you use to browse the
| web then?

My system has dual-boot setup:
 a) Windows 98 SE with Microsoft Internet Explore 5.0
 b) Mandrake Linux 7.0 (upgraded with several packages) with KDE2 Beta4
   1) In Linux/KDE, I use Konqueror web browser/file manager
** Many thanks to KDE team : product is great! **
   2) Mozilla M17
several nice ideas, but product is very slow, crashes very often, and
lacks compatibility with industry standards. Plus, download size is 15MB !
(look from what I started - it's not acceptable for me)
   3) Galeon (GTK-based browser, depending on Mozilla)
well, it is just front end to Mozilla written using GTK. Crashes more
often then Mozilla, while slightly faster. For Netscape funs, I recommend
this one instead of original Mozilla

******
Besides, now I do some JavaScript/DHTML testing and going to launch site
dedicated to KDE soon.
So, I downloaded yesterday
-Netscape Communicator 4.75 for Windows (15MB, waste of 2 hours of my time)
 -Opera 4.02 for Windows.
(1.9MB without Java, 9MB with Java; but is is not free, only 30days
trial)
I have very strange, unpleasant feeling from this testing.
Neither Netscape nor Opera support CSS2 (Cascaded Style Sheets Lev.2)
correctly.
Sometimes Opera is better, sometimes - Netscape. But both are far away from
MS. Most problems come from absolute positioning.

Opera for Linux is in Alpha stage - I decided it's too risky to install it.

If you are interested in browser-question discussion, do not hesitate to
e-mail me !!

P.S. Openly speaking, I see Konqueror as THE ONLY alternative to Microsoft IE.
Problem is that it is developed for Linux, and part of KDE2 project. I am
wondering if some super-hacker can get its code (everything available in
sources on KDE CVS) and port it to Windows. (don't care so much about Mac,
but Mac port will be also great!)
I have a *BAD* feeling that if Konqueror fails with wide acceptance,
Microsoft will dominate the market completely.
