Sorry for the slow response. Judging from this output, MySQL is
definitely not running. Following the advice that others have given
should be you going. (ie, either /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql to start up
whenever you want it of chkconfig --add mysql to have it automatically
start upon boot)
