First of all, let me just say I'm very happy with KDE2 as a whole. I'm
also sorry I'm reporting KDE-bugs in this awkward way, but I got in
quite late in the process, and haven't had the time to figure out the
proper way, especially since I'm using Mandrake-rpms. Since you
replied, I must have done something right, though ;-)

Well, for me (and I imagine also for others) the main reason for
getting rid of the menu is to save on screen real estate (I'm using a
laptop). I try to dump the menu just because I know the keyboard
shortcuts and don't need it. Going back to point and click when you're
used to the keyboard is a major annoyance. I sure wish you can fix this!

Yes, I figured that out. But I thought that konqueror's own error
messages should be taken care of in some way. If you don't know that
there might pop up invisible error messages, you experience this as if
konqueror has frozen and won't respond to any input.
