Oi,

the new X-CD-Roast 0.98 got stable (it is only considered alpha by its
author because multisession support and network preconfiguration is
still missing) and the old 0.96ex2 causes problems (needs tweaked
cdrecord, frontend SUID, does not compile with TCl/TK 8.3, not
maintained by the author any more). So we decided to replace 0.96ex2 by
the completely rewritten 0.98. The interface is now done in GTK and
there are a lot of new features as master-on-the fly, new mastering
interface, bubble help, DAO-writing, CDDB access, usage of TOC files,
1:1 audio CD copy, interface in more than 15 languages (my contribution
is brazilian portuguese), and much more.

When you install this program and also the newest versions of the
CD-burning backends:

   xcdroast-0.98-1mdk.i586.rpm
   cdrecord-1.9-3mdk.i586.rpm
   cdrecord-cdda2wav-1.9-3mdk.i586.rpm
   mkisofs-1.13-3mdk.i586.rpm

All users who are member of the group "cdwriter" can burn CDs. All
executable file permissions are set correctly. There are only
corrections necessary on the device special files. Log in as "root" and
do

   chgrp cdwriter /dev/scd* /dev/sg* /dev/pcd* /dev/pg*
   chmod 660 /dev/scd* /dev/sg* /dev/pcd* /dev/pg*

(the /dev/p* files are for parallel burners). Add the desired users to
the group "cdwriter" in /etc/group or use the user management program of
Mandrake for doing so. Now all members of "cdwriter" can burn from the
command line or with any graphical frontend including the new
X-CD-Roast.

E agora boa sorte na gravacao de CDs (pt_BR: And now good luck when
burning CDs)

   Till
