I'm not sure if anyone can help me, but if you can it would be greatly
appreciated.
My problem is that I cannot get my NVIDIA GeFORCE2 GTS 64meg DDR video card
to work with Mandrake ver. 7.1.
I've tried all of the suggestions from this mailing list and all of those on
both the NVIDIA and XFREE.org websites. It appears that the kernel and glx
drivers install properly, however when I try to run startx I get a message
saying that no cards were detected. And when I try to run KDE I get a
message stating that x server "failed".
If it is of any help my system is a Dell Dimension XPS B800r with the
following components:
PIII 800mhz CPU
128 Megs RDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS 64meg DDR
SB Live Value sound card
3COM 56k (non-win-modem) (which I cannot figure out how to switch the com
port to one recognized by Linux, it's currently on com 5)
3COM 10/100 TX NIC
TI Fire wire 3 port card
Iomega Zip Zoom SCSI with 250 Meg Zip drive
45 gig IBM ATA/66 7200rpm HDD (windows 98)
6.4 gig Western Digital ATA/33 5600rpm HDD (Linux)
12x Samsung DVD
8x4x32x Sony CD-R/RW
Microsoft Natural Pro USB Keyboard
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer USB
HP DeskJet 970cse
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Spencer Crume
