havin' that exact problem with my SB Live too, if yah get the answer mail me

XFree 4.0.1 you have to add "ZAxisMapping 4 5" in the pointer section or
mouse section for your mouse-wheel to work I think, but it seems to be fine
with my Logitech MouseMan+ (PS/2)
