It would be nice if we could do some hdparm optimisations during the
installation.  Using merely the conservative setting of "-c3", I cut the
install time by half (hd install.  I don't know what kind of a difference it
would make for a CD install).

This would obviously only be possible after the user selected "use hdparm
optimisations".  True, it might cause problems for people who select that
option when their hard disks can't manage it, but they're going to have
problems when they first boot anyway.  At the very least, it should be an
option in expert.  And if a newbie fscks his system with an option in expert,
he was asking for it.  :)
