[Cooker] sound breaks with 2.2.17-21mdk?

This may be old news and updates already exist.

The vanilla 7.2b3 with kernel-2.2.17-11mdk recognized
my Yamaha YMF-740C from boot up.

The -21mdk gives errors and sndconfig claims its not supported.?
