The --disable-alsa option was put in becase esd fails to produce any audio
output on machines running ALSA when compiled with ALSA support (go figure).
Additionally, it was processing data at four times the correct audio speed.
My system uses ALSA as well, with the OSS emulation (as per ALSA docs).
This provides me with ALSA output from the non-alsa esd package.
