I've been eagerly anticipating a working 7.0/486
or 7.1/486 release, but so far nothing has
happened. Just thought I'd mention that there is
still interest out there, from at least one
person. If I had the spare disk space/processing
time, I'd build my own, but I kinda don't right
now. I've settled on Red Hat 7.0 for my <i586
boxes until Mandrake's ready.
(To clarify "a working 7.0/486", the pcmcia disk
is broken for the 486 release of 7.0. This was
reported ages ago, and has never been fixed
AFAIK. IMHO, it's a waste of time to fix,
considering Mandrake is almost 2 releases past
that now.)
I'd like to see a 7.2/486 ISO not long after the
7.2/586 is released. Not having tried, I can't
really say how hard it is, but I don't really
see how just doing a rebuild of everything should
really take 3-4 months. I would hope it would be
similar for the Alpha and Sparc.
I would be happy with a minimal ISO for the 486,
just the install stuff and base console packages
(rpm and ftp client would do me fine), after
which I could personally recompile the neccessary
RPMS for the additional software I want to
install.
