You can try 'xset -q' to see if DPMS is enabled....
If yes you can try change setting with 'xset dpms 1200 65535 65535' to use 
only suspend after 20mins and standby and off after 18 hours...(for me is 
ok...not so much time my laptop is unattended....;o)
Or 'xset -dpms' to disable (or you can comment Option "DPMS" from 
XF86Config-4)
