Sounds like your compressed kernel image has become corrupt, so it fails the CRC
check while being decompressed. I think this is more
like a freak occurance, dodgy CD, glitch etc etc. Try re-installing, or if you
can boot from your floppy, re-install the default mandrake kernel
again.
