I am wondering about the perl installation that comes with Mandrake 7.2.
Apparently it is doing something very strange, something I've never seen
before.
Specifically it is unable to install any of the modules on CPAN because,..
usually terminating with a message similar to:
"Error: Unable to locate installed Perl libraries or Perl source code."
During the compilation phase of the module install. In case you are
wondering,.. I have tried many modules and they all die with the same
error. These same modules work fine on earlier versions, but not on the
5.6 version of perl that comes with Mandrake 7.2.
One of the biggest timesavers that I had come across is years was the CPAN
shell for installing perl modules (perl -MCPAN -e shell), and now that
perl is broken on Mandrake 7.2, I am kind of at a loss here. Short of
removing everything perl and perl related and recompiling perl from
scratch,.. I'm not sure how to handle this.
Any ideas?
