| I have been trying to install 7.2 on my dell laptop for two weeks. 7.1
| installs fine. 7.2 installs and works with the monitor attached to the
| docking station but not with the TFT screen. I have tried to change the
| XF86Config file and tried Xconfigurator to now avail. Also, when the
| system starts up it flashes the screen for ten minutes. Any
| suggestions?

I have ATI Mach-64 based Rage Mobility (Compaq Presario 1800, 8MB Video RAM)
When my XFS server failed and I tried re-install XF 3.3.6, it is failed.
MACH64 server was not able to put correct synchronization, and I had to
reboot after starting X.

Then I installed XF 4.0.1 from Cooker. Everything works fine. X started in
1024x768 without special handling. Refresh was correct (for my TFT LCD it
should be 60Hz). I used xf86cfg from XF-4.0.1-22mdk.
Even Ctrl+Alt+Keypad"+" ("-")changes resolutions correctly, it was not
working in XF 3.3.6
Xconfigurator, I believe, is _too old_ and should not be used in any case.
Xdrakres utility worked out for me 1024x768 reslotion with 3.3.6. But only
this resolution, nothing more.

Final note: I have LM 7.0 upgraded to LM 7.2 level from Cooker (kernel
2.2.17-22, XF 4.0.1-22mdk, KDE 2.0 compiled from sources, etc.)
