[Cooker] Amd and linux

hey,
I was thinking of buying AMD and wanted to know how it performed under linux
compared to Intel? Is it slower or is the performance about the same? Is LM
optimized for AMD?
Btw is gateway a good computer company. From experience micronpcs rock,
howerver they are a little expensive and don't let u customize as much. Dell
is very good also. I was thing of getting a gateway this time around.
