Some problems I faced the last few hours suggest that the "test-11"
kernel and 0.4 may have some serious problems. Until now I couldn't get
no oops or any info on the logs that could drop some light on this. So
sorry I can only describe the phenomena.

Under smbfs I tried to download some quite heavy files (>200MB) and
browse the directories. While these processes where in action, my
machine "hanged" for some seconds (up to 10 sec. maximum). It was
impossible to give input in any console.

I'm having serious troubles on downloading from a NFS server. A file
weighing 700MB takes nearly two times longer to download than usual.
Besides, in one of these downloads the machine froze completely. It was
impossible even to use the "magic keys". On checking the filesystem, the
downloaded file was completely trashed. Interesting to note that a few
seconds before the hangup, I noted the download rate slowly dropping
from 500KB/sec down to 300KB/sec. (usually I get a 1-1,47MB rate with
the mentioned server).

On copying a two files disk-to-disk I noted the following. The first
file, nearly 70Mb weight went with a rate 2.4MB. The second one, nearly
75MB, got a rate of 3,1MB. The first disk is a standard IDE disk, while
the second sits in a UDMA/66 controller.

Any ideas?
