I have a Banshee which works fabulously on my old 7.1 installation, but the same
card in my wife's machine (7.2rc1) gets about 0.2 frames/sec. I've installed the
glide module, tried ``export MESA_GLX_FX=fullscreen /usr/games/program'' and
lots of other stuff to no avail.

XFree 4.0.1 on the Banshee absolutely --==screams==-- along in 2D mode, though,
compared to a (hawk, spit) SiS-6326. It's using the ``tdfx'' driver. Should I
make it use the ``glide'' driver? What small but vital concept am I missing
here?

Meantime, also on wife's machine, getting the ClanLib games to run in a window
(because they extend right off the screen in fullscreen mode) is a bit of a
pain. SDL is usually easier, but not everything runs with that. I can get Pingus
to windowise by doing ``echo "x11" | /usr/games/pingus -F'' in a script and
running the script, but surely there's an easier way? Putting the game on a
sub-sub(-sub-sub)-menu with a choice of full-screen/windowed would be nice.
