You should not use an initrd unless you have to. This is my experiance
compile the drivers into the kernel. If someone blows away your mods by
mistake you are
will be SOL. Always have a repair disk and alway keep a back up kernel
untill you are SURE that everythings is work. And I mean be SURE.
