Hi Pixel,

My computer has a 5GB partition for Windows, with Win98SE
loaded. The next partitions are /hda5 is /root at 1.5gb, /hda6 is
swap and /hda7 is the /home directory.

The big questions - Ron has a setup similar to mine, and
his system came up the same way mine did. The windows partition
and the /hda5 partition buttons were both checked for formatting
by default. He UNCHECKED the button, and it formatted over his
window partition. So the question is - is the button backwards?
(Checked means NO, unchecked means YES) with the actual default
being NO - even though the button is checked, OR is the button
being ignored and the program will format no matter WHAT you do..
OR... Is the default really to format the partition?

I'm afraid to try it - I can't afford to loose my
Windoz partition yet.

        It sounds like when Ron tried it, it looked like mine did;
the format button was set for the windows partition and he un-set
the button - and it then proceded to eat his windows partition.

The work-around for those of us who are faint of heart
is to simple make the windows partition mount point BLANK. It
seems that the partition will then be ignored. Unfortunately,
means adding it all manually post install which may be difficult
for newbees (like me, for example ;-) )

Hope the skiing was good. Welcome back.

        Vinny
