echo $XAUTHORITY ?
If it says $HOME/.Xauthority, and if you use openssh, then just correct
your shell startup script not to replace the $XAUTHORITY when it is set
(it should be /tmp/ssh-XXXX/...).
I had to correct all the Mandrake 7.2 I installed because
/etc/skel/bashrc has the bug of [ -n $DISPLAY ]. The bug is corrected in
cooker, but if you have an old or a custom_and_buggy .shellrc, you'll
have this bug.
