If you do env (as A.S. did) you will get the XAUTHORITY . An other problem may be that
teich.garten.digitalprojects.com:12.0 should allow you to open an window on the
screen(This do you by exporting the magic cookie or by setting your xhost). It sound
like ssh doesn't export the magic-cookie. Try xhost +away.computer on the local
machine(WARNING INSECURE)
