Isn't that what..

/lib/modules/2.4.0-2mdk/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ipchains.o

is for?  I was running it a few weeks ago, seemed to work
fine.  Just load that module, and ipchains works like it
used to.  Never even notice the difference. =)
