bzip2 isn't even capable to use a 2 GB file:
[root@teich tmp]# bzip2 -1zkv HUGE_FILE
bzip2: Input file HUGE_FILE is not a normal file.
[root@teich tmp]# ls -la HUGE_FILE
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2596138250 Mär 17 16:31 HUGE_FILE
This is with bzip2-1.0.1-8mdk
gzip and tar are still working on this file. Will try soon (?) with a 7.5
GB file.
