Yes, but these libs have a different soname for a reason.
It is possible to build id3lib with gcc 2.96, if you fix the bugs that work
with egcs but not with gcc 2.96 (missing #include directives for standard
headers, passing char* for a const char* function parameter,...).
I could try and upgrade the package, but there could be problems with
programs that are linked against two versions of libstdc++.
